Emerson & Hacienda Schools continue to support students at home with a full-day learning curriculum (9:00am-5:30pm) via distance learning programs using a combination of Zoom, Google Docs, YouTube and Facetime technology. Our experienced instructors had on-line instruction started within two days of the shelter-in-place order, and they continue to teach in each of our regular subject areas, dependent on grade level:
We are here to patiently support our students and families throughout this challenging time. Although we provide a combination of screen lessons and meetings, along with off-line material to support independent (non-screen) worktime, we do not want to apply additional stress to our families. We will continue to provide schoolwork that is consistent with our regular planning in order to keep our students’ minds moving forward but we also encourage parents to adjust lessons and scheduling as needs arise for their children. As always, our learning program will continue on our regular, full-day, year-round schedule.
Although our distance learning program has courses running in close similarity to our regularly scheduled program, we would like to remind everyone that the schooling happening now is CRISIS SCHOOLING, as opposed to homeschooling or a regular distance learning program. Today’s pandemic is NOT NORMAL to anyone, including those that normally choose to homeschool or those that attend classes via other on-line institutions. We look forward to future days when we are back to our normal face-to-face, hands-on learning program that ideally includes frequent excursions, community service events and social functions.
Emerson & Hacienda Schools are currently accepting enrollment applications for our current and upcoming school year. Admission is subject to space availability in individual grade level programs.
